What about creepy crawlies?

Dare to be wise exhibition, Otago museum, Dunedin New Zealand, 2019

“All species have value but some have an easier time engendering support from humans. What can be done for unloved species?”

I was happy that my painting represented the research that is being done for unloved species in the “Guardianship and conservation” section of the exhibition.

We see a person bending down, noticing what lives at ground level. From stems and leaves, to tiny hairs, veins, dots and curls — through branching, curving and speckled patterns, the human blends in with the nonhumans. Each body is a landscape, and part of a landscape.
